The Delta state police force has arrested one 72 year old landlord called Nnamdi for allegdly raping a 15 year old girl sent on an errand to his compound. According to reports, the suspect’s compound was close to the Infant Jesus, Infant Road junction in Asaba. According to Police spokeswoman DSP Celestina Kalu who confirmed the incident, the suspect had been complaining bitterly about people who stroll into his compound freely to pluck bitter leaf most times without permisser. The suspect, out to make an example of the bitter leaf ‘thief’, stayed behind at the weekend to lay an ambush.
When the young girl, as usual, strolled into the compound heading straight to the garden behind the building the suspect allowed her to finish plucking the bitter leaf, quietly walked to her, lifted the victim and took her to his bedroom where he allegedly had carnal knowledge of her.
